Asan Medical Center Deploys HDVR® Connect

Palo Alto, California and Seoul, Korea, August 28, 2013

Fovia Medical, Inc., a world leader in volume rendering technology, and Asan Medical Center (AMC), Korea’s largest medical complex, today announced the deployment of High Definition Volume Rendering® throughout AMC.

AMC provides a full range of multi-specialty services at seven regional hospitals and a number of medical and dental clinics. It is recognized as a world leader in using innovative technology to achieve high rates of diagnostic accuracy and successful treatment outcomes. The Asan Heart Institute, for example, one of AMC’s state-of-the-art facilities, is an international leader in coronary disease treatment and research, utilizing the most advanced coronary robotic surgery instruments in the world.

Fovia’s HDVR® Connect software helps hospitals worldwide to overcome communication and data delivery challenges caused by exponential data explosion. Utilizing Fovia’s thin client-server technology, AMC’s radiologists, physicians and surgeons now have access to advanced visualization throughout the hospital complex, allowing them to query, review, and share critical data “on-the-fly” without losing valuable time during diagnosis and treatment. This complex-wide access to data eliminates the need for costly and inconvenient “reading rooms,” saving time and money that can be reallocated for improved patient-focused clinical care.

Fovia’s flexible, scalable solution successfully addresses the increasing need for on-demand viewing of medical images, and is ideal for large and dynamic hospital environments. Equipped with Fovia’s platform-agnostic technology, AMC is now able to provide instant image access to all relevant departments regardless of location, running on as many clients as needed either locally or via the cloud.

Dr. Dong-Ho Lee, Associate Professor, Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Asan Medical Center, is enthusiastic about deploying Fovia’s High Definition Volume Rendering software in its hospitals and imaging centers. “Asan Medical Center is recognized as a pioneer in adopting the most advanced technology to provide patients with world-class care. We believe that having the ability to view and manipulate patient data with Fovia’s High Definition Volume Rendering software throughout our facilities will improve accuracy, efficiency and workflow for our medical staff, and will result in improved patient outcomes. We expect HDVR’s astonishing clarity, flexibility and ease-of-use to help drive innovations in medical care at AMC now and in the future.”

Ken Fineman, Chief Executive Officer of Fovia stated, “We are thrilled about the opportunity to deliver advanced visualization to the largest medical institution in Korea, widely known for its excellent standard of medical care and its use of innovative technology. I am confident that Asan Medical Center will use High Definition Volume Rendering to continue making advances in the fields of oncology, coronary disease and surgical care, and Fovia is proud to help facilitate such advances.”
