Fovia Integration Mission Statement

At Fovia, we are proud to offer the best-in-class volume rendering solution, and a robust SDK that provides complete accessibility to XStream® HDVR® technology for ease-of-integration into OEM customers' products.

XStream HDVR is a CPU-based solution that provides linear scalability using off-the-shelf hardware. The technology delivers unprecedented interactive performance and quality, with no downsampling or pixelation artifacts.  The highly-efficient client-server architecture provides high speed real-time rendering over even the slowest networks. The SDK provides high-level components that facilitate rapid integration and enable control over the application's look-and-feel.

Fovia introduced its rendering technology in 2003, and ever since has revolutionized the way companies image-enable their products, providing customers anytime, anywhere access to volumetric images using Intel and AMD processors. Fovia's advanced visualization has been implemented by hundreds of thousands of users in products built by our partners, including GE Healthcare, Pfizer, United States Department of Defense, Schlumberger, NASA, Merge Healthcare and Ethicon (a Johnson & Johnson company), to name a few.

Volume Rendering

Volume rendering is most commonly used in the medical field, but its use is increasing within the dental, industrial, oil & gas, veterinary, scientific and education sectors.

In all these fields, it is common for modalities such as CT (computed tomography), CBCT (cone beam CT), or MR (magnetic resonance) to capture images in individual slices. Each slice obtains a cross-sectional image. Taken together, these slices make up a stack of images over a given range.  Volume rendering reconstructs these slices into a single volume that visually represents the data in the actual image of the originating form.

Fovia’s solution overcomes many of the technical challenges that have historically hampered wide deployment of the direct volume rendering technique utilized by XStream HDVR.

XStream HDVR Product Suite—Volume Visualization Solutions for any Workflow

F.A.S.T.® Cloud SDK:  Incorporate XStream HDVR into any browser through a zero-download web client with this HTML5 / JavaScript based solution.  An HTML4 backwards-compatible option is available that even supports IE9. Fovia’s zero footprint viewer makes XStream HDVR accessible on any web-enabled device, and is the ideal solution for image-ready, cloud-based networks.

F.A.S.T.® Native SDK:  Access the complete Fovia library, including fully documented APIs, example applications, source code for all of the solutions, and everything else needed to jump start your development. F.A.S.T. Native SDK provides a deep integration into OEM products via a fully customizable toolkit. In addition to offering seamless integration for existing applications, the SDK acts as a building block for incorporating 2D, 3D, 4D or 5D real-time rendering into new products.

F.A.S.T.® RapidPrint®:  Experience Fovia's example application for High Fidelity 3D Printing. Companies that need 3D printing from volume data and want the convenience of an integrated solution find a crucial tool in the volume-to-print capabilities provided by F.A.S.T. RapidPrint. Fovia’s 3D printing features can easily be added directly into existing software.

F.A.S.T.® Interactive Segmentation: F.A.S.T. Interactive Segmentation provides dynamic, real-time, interactive 3D segmentation. F.A.S.T. Interactive Segmentation provides a complete and intuitive interactive experience, enabling a user to quickly and easily segment (and modify “on-the-fly” if necessary) anatomic regions of interest. Additionally, F.A.S.T. Interactive Segmentation is designed to complement existing, automatic segmentation algorithms, allowing rapid, real-time “clean-up” of data to meet radiologists’ exacting requirements.

CPU vs. GPU

Some traditional approaches to volume rendering utilize proprietary hardware, GPU, or OpenGL-based solutions.  These solutions are not only costly, but have many inherent limitations.

Fovia's XStream HDVR solution has a unique advantage over other volume rendering solutions—it is 100% CPU-based, and eliminates the complexities associated with GPU or hardware-based volume visualization. XStream HDVR does not use any OpenGL drivers or hardware libraries, freeing developers from compatibility issues related to GPU drivers and unexpected side effects from system updates. Fovia's solutions are 100% Intel and AMD compatible, and run anywhere. The rendering server can be run in a virtualized environment in the cloud, with viewing through mobile and zero-download HTML-based clients.

XStream HDVR is easy to implement, provides the gold standard in quality and performance, and maintains all of the advantages that come with a CPU-based solution.
